Winston Churchill Red Amaryllis Gift

£18.99

‘Amaryllis ‘Churchill Red’ Syn. Liberty.

Chartwell House in Kent was the home and gardens of Sir Winston Churchill and his family from 1924 until shortly before his death in 1965.

Chartwell was gifted to the National Trust in 1946, on condition that Churchill and his wife Clementine could continue to live there as long as they wished. In the 1930s, when Churchill was out of political office, Chartwell became the centre of his world for writing speeches, reading and painting.

Painting soon became his passion, painting over 500 artworks. He was once gifted an Amaryllis from Princess Marina, Dutchess of Kent, when he was unwell. He went on to paint several images of this Amaryllis, these artworks became the inspiration for our Amaryllis ‘Churchill Red’. A stunning festive houseplant and the perfect Christmas gift.
