Elizabeth Snowdon awarded a Blue Diamond Scholarship!
5th June 2023Elizabeth Snowdon has been awarded one of this year’s Blue Diamond Scholarships. A love of gardening and growing was begun when Elizabeth spent time in her Uncle and Aunt’s garden, which she describes as being ‘everything you could want in a garden’!
After doing volunteer work with the National Trust to gain experience, Elizabeth is now working at Preston Park, in Stockton while studying for her Level 2 in Horticulture at Northumberland College. She recently learned that she had passed with distinction – a reflection of the hard work she has put into her studies. She plans to use the award to help her to finance further training and is enroling on her level 3 course in September.
Elizabeth has already gained a lot of experience in parks and gardens and is keen to expand this further. The trustees selected Elizabeth as a scholarship winner because of the passion for horticulture that she demonstrated in her application. She aims to inspire others to appreciate the benefits growing by creating ‘Horticultural Hotspots’ in her local area and petitioning councils to create sites for community orchards.
Elizabeth told us “When I received the news that I had been selected as a Blue Diamond scholarship winner, I was overjoyed! This will help me so much to finance my further training and I am very grateful to the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation and Blue Diamond for their support.”
Blue Diamond have supported 8 students this year with the scholarship programme offered by the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation. We are very grateful for their support which makes a huge difference to students studying horticulture.
