28th June 2019Fryer’s Roses to Launch Two New Roses for 2019at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival
Fryer’s Roses, part of the Blue Diamond Group of Garden Centres, is to launch two new roses at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival, Reach for the Stars on behalf of Alder Hey Children’s Charity and Friends on behalf of the Greenfingers Charity.
Reach for the Stars rose
Launched by Fryer’s Roses, part of the Blue Diamond Group of Garden Centres, on behalf of Alder Hey Children’s Charity, rose Reach for the Stars, is a beautiful, large flowered, climbing, nostalgic style rose. Its flower colour changes from apricot-yellow to peach when opening. Disease resistant and with a rich, sweet-spice fragrance, this is the perfect rose to train up pillars or pergolas. It can also be grown as a shrub rose to a height of 2-3 metres.
£1 from every Reach for the Stars rose sold through Fryer’s Roses online and the Blue Diamond Group of Garden Centres will be donated to Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
Alder Hey is one of Europe’s biggest and busiest children’s hospitals, treating over 330,000 patients each year. The Trust opened a state of the art hospital in 2015, which sits alongside a dedicated children’s research and innovation facility nestled amongst the green space of Springfield Park. In the last six years, Alder Hey Children’s Charity is proud to have raised over £43m to help to realise the hospital’s vision to become a world-leading centre for children’s healthcare and research.
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital has been designed to ensure that every patient has access to green space and/or views of the surrounding parkland. During a consultation for the design back in 2009, over 900 young patients drew pictures and shared their ideas on what the new hospital should look like. An overwhelming number of the ideas stemmed from nature, greenery and natural light, including a flower picture drawn by patient Eleanor Brogan, whose design was part of the brief to the architects.
Proceeds donated by Fryer’s Roses and the Blue Diamond Group, will support the children’s wishes for a green Alder Hey by helping to enhance the distinctive outdoor play decks on the hospital wards. Enjoyed by young patients and their families, these safe, open spaces allow the children to enjoy playing outdoors even when they are being treated in hospital for long periods.
Friends rose
In celebration of the work of Greenfingers Charity and in recognition of the charity’s new Friends initiative to encourage supporters to become Friends of the charity, Fryers’ Roses, part of the Blue Diamond Group of Garden Centres, is thrilled to formally launch a stunning new Friends rose at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival.
Rose, Friends is a Hybrid Tea, with beautiful, buttercup-yellow flowers and a mid-strength fragrance. The yellow blooms contrast against dark green, glossy foliage. The Friends rose grows to a height of approximately 90cm.
Greenfingers, is a national charity dedicated to supporting life-limited children and their families who spend time in hospices around the UK.
