David Colegrave Foundation Launch

The David Colegrave Foundation, who support students studying Horticulture at UK colleges and universities today announces a major new award.

Working with one of the country’s largest garden centre groups, Blue Diamond who have 37 destination centres across the UK.

Applications for the Blue Diamond Scholarships are now open to students who are studying Horticulture at a recognised UK college or university. Bursaries of up to £2,500 are available to students who demonstrate that they can add to their learning experience by having additional funding. Up to 4 awards will be made each year. Students with a particular focus on plants should apply via the David Colegrave website. There could also be opportunities for employment and work experience at one of Blue Diamonds leading garden and living outlets.

Alan Roper, Managing Director of Blue Diamond said on the launch of this scholarship:

Plants are an increasingly important part of everybody’s lives every day and whether you are gardening at home or taking up horticulture as a career Blue Diamond want to help. I was lucky to have trained in Horticulture at Pershore College in Worcestershire, many years ago, and I know what the qualification I gained has enabled me to do. At Blue Diamond we are in the lucky position where we can perhaps help other students grow their own career, and so it gives me great pride to open up this opportunity to them and share the passion we have for plants”
