DELPHINIUM 1

Delphiniums are renowned for their rich colours and commanding presence. They flower in early summer and are perfect for beds and borders and make a glorious cut flower. Delphiniums grow best in full sun with well-drained, fertile soil that's rich in organic matter.

Amy McCormack, Senior Gardener Anglesey Abbey, Cambridgeshire says:

The Herbaceous Border at Anglesey Abbey was designed to be viewed at it's best in early summer to coincide with the racing season at Newmarket. Blue and purple delphiniums are the highlight of the semicircular garden, which was designed by Major Vernon Daniel in 1950’s.

A passion for tradition and impressing guests inspired one man to transform a run-down country house and desolate landscape. At the age of 30, the future Lord Fairhaven began to create his first home. Wanting to inspire and surprise visitors, he created a spectacular garden with planting for all seasons and a cosy house in which to entertain.
